Why Mind Body Motherhood?
Because it's time to recognize that caring for ourselves is the first step in being the person we want to be, not an afterthought or something we negotiate for on special occasions. Total immersion in parenting can be rewarding and beautiful; it can also be isolating and bleak. We need to support other women in our shared goal of making self-care a priority and a habit. Allow the focus to be on your needs, your feelings, and your health.
How is Mind Body Motherhood different from the other classes out there?
We think it's different in two important ways.
1. This class is about you, not necessarily parenting your child. Each of our weekly discussions may relate directly back to motherhood, but you may also find that what you want to discuss is how work is going, or your mother-in-law, or a book you've been reading. When we restrict our conversation to how our child is sleeping or who likes puréed foods, we're failing to address all the myriad ways motherhood affects our lives as people and all the roles we play in addition to mother.
2. This class is for all mothers, not just new ones. No mater how many children you have or how long you've been a mother, it's important to take time for yourself and create a supportive community around you. Regardless of the stage you're in, our conversations will still be relevant to your life in a way that classes on sleep training or bottle introduction may not.

Mind Body Motherhood Classes
Each class, we will be guided in our discussion and yoga flow by a certain chakra of the body. For those of you who aren't familiar with the chakra system, don't worry. This simply means we'll tackle interesting and meaningful topics, such as:
dealing with change and uncertainty
sexuality and creativity
willpower and achieving goals
opening our heart to others
finding our voice and feeling heard
trusting our intuition
Classes are offered weekly over a six week period. Each class hour, we will devote our time to our discussion topic as well as to a series of yoga poses designed to stimulate our chakra system. Our yoga flow is more about tuning in to yourself than calorie burning, so class will still feel like a relaxing respite from your day.
Our current classes will be offered at the Granola Babies Annex in Costa Mesa as well as a location in Long Beach TBD.
Each series is $180.00.
